CourseGraphic 40-Hour Course Description: The course includes 40 hours of classroom and wet lab instruction designed to meet Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations (DPOR) training requirements for technicians with 4 or more years of experience in plumbing and related mechanical areas. The 40-Hour Course Includes the 4-Hour Installation *
 
Course Objectives: Introduction to and prevention of cross-connections; conditions leading to backflow; cross-connection program components; overview of backflow installation inside and outside buildings and flood areas; codes and ordinances; and use of test kits and wet lab.
 
Instructor: R. E. (Bob) Hefner – Training, Research, and Education for Environmental Occupations (TREEO) and DPOR certified backflow instructor.

Location: 201 Ogden Road, Altavista, Va. 24517
 
Times: Classes will begin promptly at 8 am and end at 5 pm Please bring a backflow test kit to class, if possible. 

40-Hour Class Fee:  $1,200.00

* In accordance with 18 VAC 50-22-20 and 18 VAC 50-22-30, DPOR requires Landscape Irrigation Contracting (ISC), Highway/Heavy (H/H) Contractors and Fire Sprinkler Contractors (SPR) to attend a class approved by the Board on backflow prevention assembly (BPA) installation before they are allowed to install BPAs. Licensure as a state certified backflow prevention device worker does not allow contractors in these specialties to install BPAs without this training.
