Are you a graduate student preparing to read journals and books in German, or do you have other interests in the German language? This 12-week, self-paced, noncredit, web-based proficiency course provides an overview of German grammar, reading comprehension strategies, and fundamentals of translation practices. No prior knowledge of German is required! The course includes a pass/fail proficiency exam and does not provide credit toward any Liberty University program of study.

REQUIRED RESOURCES: Korb, Richard Alan. German for Reading Knowledge. 7th Edition. Heinle Cengage. 2014. ISBN1285499751, 9781285499758. In addition to the textbook, you will need a computer, Internet access, and a reputable, up-to-date German-English dictionary. We recommend a dictionary with 300,000 entries, such as the Collins German Dictionary Complete and Unabridged (Eighth edition), ISBN 978-0-00-751083-2, or Oxford German Dictionary (Third edition), ISBN 978-0199545681.
